After graduation, Myers intends to work as a registered nurse, specializing in pediatrics or labor and delivery.
The James R. Anderson scholarship is awarded annually to an academically motivated student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who has demonstrated civic leadership in community service and Housing activities. The James R. Anderson Housing Scholarship Award was created in memory of Anderson, a former associate director of University Housing at SIUE. Recipients are granted a $1000 per semester scholarship.
"Housing has played a huge role in shaping my college experience. I live in Cougar Village, where I also work as a desk manager," said Myers. "My living situation and job position has helped me develop strong communication and problem-solving skills. This scholarship will have such a meaningful impact on my academic journey by allowing me to focus on my studies, my job, and my involvement at SIUE without as much stress about expense. I am beyond grateful to have been selected for this scholarship."
