Mayor Yvonne Flowers announced today that more than $300,000 is being made available to community organizations through the city's Youth Activities & Opportunities Grant Program.
The funds, with a maximum $15,000 limit per awardee, will go to provide youth opportunities to engage in sporting activities, the performing arts, summer camps, tech programs, workforce development and many other essential endeavors.
"We are excited to roll out this program again this year and look forward to the many worthy applications from organizations working hard to offer our children healthy opportunities," said Mayor Flowers. "We know the children and their families enjoy these activities, and the city takes great pleasure in offering these grants that help organizations with the resources they need to keep their programs flourishing."
Applications will be accepted through February 10th. The application form, guidelines and other information can be found at the city's Youth Services Division webpage.
The city also will hold an information meeting about the grant process at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22 at City Hall, Common Council Chambers, third floor, 62 Civic Center Plaza, Poughkeepsie.
There, the city will answer questions and provide information on reporting and training compliances connected to the program.
"The city has demonstrated over the years that it wants to work hand in hand with our community partners to ensure they can effectively go through the youth grant application process," said Youth Services Director Karen Williams. "Providing clear direction, offering assistance and answering question are all part of that process, which is why we think the information session is so important."
Applicants also can contact Williams at 845-451-4016 or email her at [email protected] for further information or to discuss program eligibility.
