Dover, Del. - Today, U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.) was in Delaware and stopped by the Innovation Venture Summit at Delaware State University, visited Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus in Dover, and attended the 19th Annual Delaware Healthy Mother & Infant Consortium (DHMIC) Summit. Throughout the day, Blunt Rochester emphasized the need for continued and additional investments in Delaware's future generations.
"It is no secret that we find ourselves in a difficult moment, but our young people are our future," said Senator Blunt Rochester. "Today, I highlighted the need for investments in Delawareans of all ages, from infancy to advanced age. I am grateful to Delaware State University and Capital One, Bayhealth, and the Delaware Healthy Mother & Infant Consortium for hosting me and for showing the impact of what is happening in Washington right here in the First State."
First, Blunt Rochester attended the inaugural Innovation Venture Summit. A partnership between Delaware State University and Capital One, this was a student product pitch competition to showcase emerging technology solutions for farmers and practitioners in the agribusiness community. Blunt Rochester delivered remarks and discussed her support of innovation and entrepreneurship, and how those things help prepare us for the future of work.
Blunt Rochester then visited Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus. She met with Bayhealth leadership, toured the facility, and learned about their Graduate Medical Education (GME) program and how it's addressing workforce shortages in central Delaware. This past Friday, Blunt Rochester hosted her second Nursing Workforce Roundtable and previewed her upcoming legislation on that topic.
Blunt Rochester ended the day by giving remarks at the 19th Delaware Healthy Mother and Infant Consortium (DHMIC) Maternal and Child Health Summit in Wilmington. A longtime leader in the effort to improve access and health outcomes for mothers and children, and to close racial disparities in doing so, Blunt Rochester's remarks were focused on Delaware's continued commitment to this work.
