Human remains identified as 2023 missing person

(COLUMBIA, MO)-

On July 7, 2023, Columbia Police responded to the 2600 block of White Gate Drive to investigate Daniel Thompson 41, of Columbia, being reported as missing. Thompson's vehicle was later located unoccupied at Rocky Fork Lakes Conservation Area near Finger Lakes State Park. A large-scale search was conducted of the area but officers were unable to locate Thompson.

On March 22, 2025, human remains were located at Rocky Fork Lakes Conservation Area. On March 17, 2026, these human remains were identified as Daniel Thompson. Next of kin has been notified.

The Columbia Police Department would like to thank the Missouri State Highway Patrol for their assistance in this case.
