A.T. Still University of Health Sciences (ATSU) has been named a recipient of the 2025 Health Professions Higher Education Excellence and Distinction (HEED) Champion Award by Insight Into Academia magazine.

The Health Professions HEED Champion Award is a national honor recognizing U.S. health sciences colleges and universities that exemplify an unyielding commitment to higher education excellence and belonging throughout their campus communities, across academic programs, and at the highest administrative levels.

This is the ninth consecutive year ATSU has received a HEED award.

"It is an honor for ATSU to be recognized by Insight Into Academia magazine," said ATSU Chancellor Craig M. Phelps, DO, '84. "This is a reflection of the work being done by Clinton Normore, EdD, MBA, chief diversity officer, and his team. ATSU thanks them for their unwavering commitment to our community."

"ATSU is honored to have earned this year's Insight Into Academia HEED Champion Award," Dr. Normore said. "This higher level of recognition affirms the family atmosphere, community engagement, and commitment to cultural proficiency that frames its cultural norms and values. The University's mission is demonstrated each day by its faculty, staff, and students."

ATSU is dedicated to empowering students who learn and serve in a wide range of communities, from urban centers to rural regions across the globe. Insight Into Academia magazine recognized ATSU for its commitment to fostering an inclusive and culturally proficient educational environment. This commitment is exemplified by the University's innovative Dreamline Pathways program, which was honored with the 2025 Inspiring Programs in STEM Award by Insight Into Academia earlier this year.

The Dreamline Pathways program at ATSU establishes partnerships with school districts and community-based organizations to provide students with valuable experiential learning opportunities. These collaborations serve to introduce young individuals to potential careers in healthcare and support their development.

"We take a detailed and somewhat holistic approach to reviewing each application in determining who will be named a Health Professions HEED Award recipient. Our standards are high, and we look for institutions where academic excellence and belonging are woven into the work being done every day across their campus," said Lenore Pearlstein, co-publisher of Insight Into Academia magazine.

As a recipient of the Health Professions HEED Champion Award, ATSU is featured in the October 2025 issue of Insight Into Academia magazine.
