Brussels, 18 June 2026 - The future of European wine, and the challenges and opportunities associated with the upcoming reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), will take center stage at the European Wine Summit, organized by the European Committee of Wine Companies (CEEV), on June 25 in Taranto, Puglia.
The event will bring together stakeholders from across the European wine value chain and representatives of European and national institutions, including European Commissioner for Agriculture Christophe Hansen, Damiano Li Vecchi, Director General for International and European Union Policies at the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, and Members of the European Parliament Dario Nardella and Michele Picaro.
At an especially challenging time for the wine sector, CEEV, the organisation chaired by Marzia Varvaglione, is convening the Summit to foster an open and constructive dialogue between policymakers and stakeholders in order to identify solutions capable of strengthening businesses, supporting investment, promoting innovation and ensuring sustainable growth throughout the European wine value chain.
To set the scene for the discussions, Tiziana Sarnari, market analyst at ISMEA and CEEV expert at the EU Wine Market Observatory, will provide a brief overview of the current state of the wine markets.
The debate will then move into two roundtable sessions, moderated by CEEV Secretary General, Ignacio Sánchez Recarte, focusing on key issues for the future of the sector. The first will be dedicated to the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy and the need to rethink European support instruments for the wine sector. Participants will include Dario Nardella, Member of the European Parliament, Luca Rigotti, President of the Wine Working Party of Copa-Cogeca, Samuel Masse, President of CEVI, and Piero Mastroberardino, member of the CEEV Board of Directors.
The second session will address the sensitive issue of wine and health, with contributions from Michele Picaro, Member of the European Parliament, Attilio Giacosa, President of IRVAS, Sandro Sartor, President of Wine in Moderation, and Professor Fabiola Sfodera of Sapienza University of Rome.
The event is organized by the European Committee of Wine Companies (CEEV) in cooperation with its Italian members, Federvini and Unione Italiana Vini (UIV).
