Aspirin may help prevent colon cancer in some patients who have specific genetic syndromes. Najeeb Al Hallak, M.D., MS, medical oncologist and co-leader of the Gastrointestinal and Neuroendocrine Oncology Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) and a member of the Phase I Clinical Trials MDT at Karmanos, explained when aspirin could be a benefit for patients who are at a high risk of developing colon cancer, and what lifestyle risk factors could help to prevent the disease.
