With the support of CABEI, the European Union and KfW, CABEI promotes digital innovation among micro and small entrepreneurs in eastern El Salvador

El Salvador, July 18, 2025 - Within the framework of the Non-Reimbursable Technical Assistance granted by the DINAMICA II Initiative, a tripartite effort of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), the Government of Germany, through KfW, and the European Union, The "Cajita Digital" was launched at the Center for the Development of Micro and Small Enterprises (CDMYPE) of the Gerardo Barrios University (UGB), a platform that seeks to strengthen business support capacities and promote a culture of technological innovation among small and medium-sized enterprises in the eastern part of the country.

The launching of the Cajita Digital will be the first step towards institutional strengthening and the creation of a Dynamic Business Development Center (CDED) specialized in digital transformation to support micro and small enterprises to increase their productivity and competitiveness and improve their innovation processes, thereby generating sources of employment.

Under this non-reimbursable funding agreement with the UGB, the capacities of 9 CDMYPE business advisors and 8 UGB students have been strengthened to provide advice to SMEs in their digital transformation process in a systematic way with the use of this tool.

The project has been made possible thanks to the support of the DINAMICA II Initiative, focused on benefiting entrepreneurs and new, young, and innovative MSMEs or those with development potential that wish to strengthen their technical and commercial skills, contributing to economic development and poverty reduction in Central America and the Dominican Republic.

To date, in El Salvador, the Initiative has supported 2,800 MSMEs with more than US$14 million in loans; it has benefited 105 micro and small enterprises with non-reimbursable resources from small donations. Similarly, 12 Business Development Centers are being strengthened through technical assistance; 71 enterprises and MSMEs are being strengthened through CDEs; and, under Seed Capital, US$2.8 million has been committed for 259 entrepreneurial and business projects.
