The fourth Political Consultative meeting between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Colombia was held on December 18, 2024, in Bogotá, Colombia.
The Political consultation was co-chaired by Mr. A. Anand, Director General of the Department of the Americas, the Middle East and Oceania of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, and Mrs. Nelsy Munar, Director of Asia, Africa and Oceania of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia.
During the meeting, both sides informed each other on the latest political, social, and economic developments in the respective countries. They affirmed their willingness to work together to consolidate the positive results in recent years and further develop bilateral relations between Mongolia and Colombia. Both sides agreed upon expanding bilateral cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, tourism, culture, and education. The Colombian side proposed the Mongolian side to take part in projects and programs implemented by the Government of Colombia in the framework of the "Memorandum of Understanding on technical cooperation between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of the Republic of Colombia" established in 2023. Furthermore, the two sides emphasized the importance of mutual appointments of Honorary Consuls in the near future, to boost bilateral business ties and promote the tourism sector.
Both sides agreed to remain committed to strengthening multilateral cooperation within the United Nations and multilateral mechanisms, including active collaboration in the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation.
During the Consultation, H.E. Mr. Zoljargal Seseer, concurrent Ambassador of Mongolia to the Republic of Colombia, and H.E. Jorge Rojas, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia signed the "Agreement between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of Colombia on the exemption of visa requirements for holders of ordinary passports". As a result, by establishing the visa-waiver agreement with Colombia, Mongolian citizens can travel to Latin American countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Barbados, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay, without visa restrictions.
