16-Year-Old Serial Robbery Suspect in Custody

Outstanding investigation by Violent Crimes detectives with assistance from the Canine and Aviation Units resulted in Wednesday's arrest of serial robbery suspect Karon Simpson, 16, a short time after he held up Dragon Wireless, 1204 Murfreesboro Pike.

In addition to yesterday's hold-up, Simpson is charged with aggravated robbery in the following cases:

Subway, 769 Bell Road, on November 10;

Super Mercado, 981 Murfreesboro Pike, on November 6;

Family Dollar, 853 Bell Road, on October 25;

Family Dollar, 853 Bell Road, on October 24;

The Escape Game, 162 3rd Avenue North, on October 23;

Wireless Z, 5335 Charlotte Pike, on October 28.

Simpson admitted to being the gunman in all seven robberies. He is charged in Juvenile Court with seven counts of aggravated robbery.

An accomplice, Marcellus Harris, 19, was arrested a short time after the Wireless Z hold-up last month. He was in possession of a stolen handgun. Harris is charged with robbery (acting in concert), theft of a firearm, and resisting arrest. He remains jailed on $57,500 bond.
