On Monday, Dec. 29, the Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) granted Missouri Farm Bureau's Application to Intervene in a PSC case in which Ameren Missouri is seeking a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) to construct nearly 30 miles of new high-voltage transmission line. The proposed line would run from the Grain Belt Express-Tiger Connector at the Burns substation to another substation in Montgomery County. Ameren's CCN application confirms that Grain Belt Express would finance a substantial portion of the project.

MOFB President Garrett Hawkins issued the following statement:

"By intervening in this case, we are stepping up to protect the interests of rural landowners who this project would directly impact. This filing underscores the growing ripple effects across Missouri's countryside from the PSC's initial approval of the Grain Belt Express project. We expressed strong concerns that the PSC's initial approval would open Pandora's box, and it has done just that. MOFB will not stand idly by while this private, out-of-state company seeks to continue to expand its footprint across the state and profit at the expense of Missouri's rural landowners. Missouri's rural families, farms, and communities deserve accountability, and Missouri Farm Bureau will take up the fight to ensure property owners have a strong and meaningful voice in this process."
