On 1 May, in Los Angeles, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Taurimas Valys met with the leadership of the American Jewish community. The meeting focused on bilateral relations between Lithuania and the United States, issues of historical memory preservation, and strengthening cooperation in the fight against antisemitism and other forms of hatred.
At the invitation of the Baltic American Freedom League, Valys also visited the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum. During the visit, the issues of transatlantic security, the geopolitical situation of the Baltic region, and the strengthening of cooperation between Lithuania and the U.S. were discussed.
The Vice-Minister emphasized the role of economic security and resilience in the partnership between Lithuania and the U.S., as well as the role of the Lithuanian diaspora in strengthening bilateral relations and promoting economic relations:
"Strengthening resilience and economic security is an integral part of Lithuania's foreign policy, based on both historical experience and today's geopolitical challenges. The U.S. is one of Lithuania's most important strategic partners, with which cooperation in the areas of investment, advanced technologies, energy, and security is consistently developed, thus strengthening both bilateral ties and overall transatlantic resilience," underlined the Vice-Minister.
At the end of his visit to Los Angeles on 2 May, the Vice-Minister met with the community of St. Casimir Lithuanian Heritage School - teachers, pupils, and their parents. The meeting highlighted the importance of Lithuanian education, preservation of Lithuanian identity abroad, and state support for diaspora initiatives.
