LOS ANGELES - Today, Mayor Bass continued her Shine LA movement that has helped foster a sense of pride and community throughout Los Angeles as the city prepares to step onto the world stage. Shine LA brought volunteers together in North Hollywood, North Hills, Central LA, South LA, East LA, and the Harbor Area. Civic leaders highlighted the unifying power of Shine LA, bringing Angelenos together for a common cause of giving back to Los Angeles. B-roll of the event here. Read about Shine LA here.

Nick Schultz, Assemblymember, 44th California Assembly District

"It was a privilege to join Mayor Bass, Councilmember Nazarian, and community members today in North Hollywood for Shine LA. This important event reminds us that the best way to build community is by coming together, beautifying our public spaces, and reinvesting in what makes Los Angeles such a wonderful place to live, work, and play. My appreciation extends to the Governor's Office and to the family of the late Tom LaBonge, who continue to remind us what it means to love our city and give back to the Los Angeles community."

Jesse Gabriel, Assemblymember, 46th California Assembly District

"I continue to be inspired by how generous and caring our community is here in the San Fernando Valley, especially during such a challenging moment for our city. I am thankful to Mayor Bass, Hope the Mission, and all of the incredible partners for organizing Shine LA and giving so many a chance to help make a positive difference in the Valley."

Dr. Julio Frenk, Chancellor, University of California Los Angeles (UCLA)

"Volunteer Day reminds us of the power of kindness and connection - and today Bruins are demonstrating that. Whether planting gardens, restoring ecosystems or supporting neighbors in need, we are demonstrating that service changes lives and improves communities. We're proud to work alongside California Volunteers to build a stronger, more resilient Los Angeles."

Josh Fryday, GO-Serve Director, California Volunteers

"Today, we witnessed the incredible impact volunteers, service members, community organizations and local and state leaders can have when they come together for a shared purpose. Through this partnership, California Volunteers and Shine LA will continue to demonstrate that together we can build stronger, more resilient communities."

Rowan Vansleve, President, Hope the Mission

"We're so grateful to Mayor Bass and her team for bringing her Shine LA initiative to Hope the Mission and Los Angeles Mission. On Saturday morning, volunteers from all across Los Angeles came together with one purpose: to do something special for their unhoused neighbors. At Hope and Los Angeles Mission, we work every day to fight the homelessness crisis, but we know it takes all of us, the city, the county, and caring neighbors, to make real change. Today's event was a beautiful reminder that we're not in this alone. It showed the best of what Angelenos can do when we come together, and why this city is so special. As we look ahead to welcoming the world in the coming years, Mayor Bass's Shine LA initiative gives us all an opportunity to step up, so let's keep working side by side by volunteering at the next Shine LA event."
