Congresswoman Luz Rivas’ Statement on Federal Judge’s Ruling that Trump’s Militarization of Los Angeles is Illegal
LOS ANGELES - Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29) released the following statement after a federal judge ruled that Donald Trump's deployment of the U.S. Marine Corps and the National Guard to Los Angeles is illegal:
"Militarizing Los Angeles was never about keeping families safe - it was always about manufacturing a chaos to make Donald Trump look tough," said Congresswoman Rivas. "Donald Trump cannot deploy our military in our cities or against Americans, and today's ruling is an affirmation of that. This ruling is a win for the people of Los Angeles and our democracy. However, our work continues to protect our republic - and our most vulnerable - from the harm Donald Trump and his Administration poses."
