The Department of English and Creative Writing Program at Georgia College & State University are proud to celebrate Associate Professor of Creative Writing Chika Unigwe on the upcoming release of her new novel, Grace, from Canongate Books on Jan. 15, 2026.

A tender and powerful exploration of motherhood, forgiveness and the lives women build from loss, Grace follows a woman forced to reckon with the past when the child she gave up - and the mother she left behind - reappear after decades apart.

Winner of the NLNG Prize for Literature and author of On Black Sisters' Street, Better Never Than Late and The Middle Daughter, Professor Unigwe is internationally recognized for her vivid portrayals of women's resilience and moral courage.

We're honored to have her as part of the Georgia College faculty and delighted to celebrate this remarkable new work.

Grace will be available in hardback, paperback and eBook from Canongate Books.
