(Des Moines, Iowa, November 4, 2026) - The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Iowa State Director Mike Sexton today announced that two Iowa nonprofit organizations will receive fiscal year 2026 funding through the Housing Preservation Grant Program.
"USDA partners with states, municipalities, and non-profits to address all stages of the housing cycle, including repairing eligible homes to keep our affordable rural housing stock in working order," said Sexton. "These investments will help fix furnaces, roofs, and safety hazards for eligible low-income Iowans. With Iowa's aging rural population, ensuring that homes remain safe and functional is vital to helping senior citizens live independently for as long as possible. These grants demonstrate the Trump administration's commitment to revitalizing rural homeownership."
Nationwide, Rural Development is investing nearly $8 million through its Housing Preservation Grant Program to fund home repairs and housing rehabilitation for very-low- and low-income rural residents. The funds will repair an estimated 1,228 housing units across rural America.
In Iowa, these two organizations received the program funding:
