Redwood City, California - The City of Redwood City is launching Innovate RWC, a new quarterly speaker series designed to showcase innovative companies based in Redwood City, from emerging startups to globally recognized firms. The series will connect neighbors with the leaders and ideas shaping the local economy, offering insight into cutting-edge work happening here at home, along with the career pathways and community impact that come with it.
"Redwood City is home to an incredible mix of innovative companies, from startups to global leaders, and many residents may not realize the scale of the work happening right here," said Amanda Anthony, Economic Development Manager for the City of Redwood City. "Innovate RWC is about creating connections, helping our community better understand these industries, and opening the door to inspiration and opportunity."
The inaugural event in the series will take place at Cañada College and feature Paul Lambert, Co-Founder and CEO of Quilt, a Redwood City-based company that builds all-electric home climate systems combining high-efficiency heat pump technology with smart controls to deliver comfortable, lower-carbon heating and cooling. The conversation will explore entrepreneurship, climate innovation, and the future of technology, along with insights into career paths and lessons learned along the way.
Lambert founded Quilt after committing himself to building a company he could dedicate his life to. In 2022, he identified climate change as the defining challenge for the next generation and set out to develop solutions focused on sustainable home climate technology. Prior to Quilt, Lambert built his first internet business as a teenager, founded the education platform Learndot, and served as a Partner at Google's Area 120 innovation incubator.
"I started Quilt with the goal of building better home climate systems that are efficient, electric, and designed for the future, because addressing climate change felt like one of the most important challenges to work on," said Paul Lambert, Co-Founder and CEO of Quilt. "It's special to do that work here in Redwood City, and I'm excited to be part of a series that brings the community closer to the innovation happening around them."
Innovate RWC events are open to residents, students, professionals, and anyone interested in learning more about innovation and opportunity in Redwood City.
