Amy Bishop, Executive Director of the Texas County & District Retirement System (TCDRS) for more than a decade, has announced her retirement effective March 31, 2026. The TCDRS Board of Trustees has named Karen Correa, currently Deputy Executive Director, as Executive Director effective April 1, 2026.
Amy Bishop's retirement concludes nearly three decades of service to TCDRS. Since becoming Executive Director in 2015, she has strengthened TCDRS' legacy of responsible funding while expanding its focus on delivering exceptional services and ensuring members retire with confidence.
"It has truly been the honor of my lifetime to serve TCDRS and work alongside such a talented and dedicated team," Bishop said. "The Board's leadership and support, together with the commitment of our staff, have made it possible for us to serve Texans well and strengthen the system year after year. I am incredibly proud of what we have built together and confident in the leadership and future of TCDRS."
As Deputy Executive Director, Karen Correa oversees the Information Technology and Finance divisions and has been instrumental in TCDRS' digital transformation, improving service experiences for members and employers while increasing security, flexibility and efficiency. Her leadership has emphasized innovation and ensuring TCDRS is well positioned to meet the evolving needs of its 394,000 members.
"I am honored by the Board's trust and grateful for the opportunity to serve as Executive Director," Correa said. "TCDRS has a long history of responsible stewardship, and I am committed to building on that foundation, strengthening our services and ensuring TCDRS remains dependable and forward-looking for members and employers."
Correa has been with TCDRS for more than 20 years and has experience in digital transformation, finance, management consulting and operations management within the financial services sector.
Bishop will remain in her role through March 31, 2026, to support a smooth and thoughtful leadership transition.
