Facing former Texan assistant coach Sonia Carlson, who is now the head coach at McNeese, Tarleton State clinched the doubles point and came away with four singles wins on Tuesday.
The Texans' seventh straight win matches the longest win streak in the Division I Era.
"Another great match for this team and I am so proud of everyone. We battled all day through adversity and came out on top," head coach said. "I knew playing against McNeese would be a tough match for us. Sonia has that program going in the right direction. They're going to do very well the rest of the season and we want to wish Sonia and her team all the best.
"Noelia was impressive today and she really does bleed purple. She isn't scared to put everything on the line. Ximena and Maria brought great energy and played a huge part in our win today. This team continues to impress me with their desire and commitment to winning."
Tarleton State jumped out with the early lead in its usual way: taking the doubles point. Thanks to wins from / on Court 1 and / on Court 3, the Texans secured the doubles point for the seventh time in the last eight matches to take a 1-0 advantage.
Junior , who was placed on the WAC Doubles Team of the Week during Tuesday's match, collected her eighth singles win of the season on Court 4. Her 6-3, 6-2 straight sets win over McNeese's Alexa Martinez Mendoza gave the Texans a two-point lead in the match.
After McNeese picked up a singles win on Court 6, Castano kept the Texans ahead on the team scoreboard. The freshman from the Dominican Republic was victorious for the 11th time in her debut season after defeating Arianne Monlleo Sanchis on Court 5 in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
The Texans clinched the match thanks to a pair of three-set wins. After winning her last singles match in three sets, Lorca had to come from behind once again to clinch her eighth singles victory of the year. She did exactly that, winning the final two sets after dropping the first for a 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 victory on Court 3.
Seeking her first win in a month and a half, freshman edged out her opponent in three sets. Kuscu picked up her fifth singles win of the season by defeating McNeese's Erica Hagi 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 on Court 2, helping Tarleton State to the team victory.
Tarleton State is off from match action for the remainder of the week for Spring Break. The Texans will travel to Denton to face North Texas on Saturday, March 29 at 2 p.m. for its next match.
