BEIJING, June 8 -- A military inspection team of the Joint Party composed of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan, conducted a border disarmament compliance inspection at the eastern section of the China-Russia border from May 27 to June 4. This marks the first round of border disarmament compliance inspection between China and the Joint Party in 2026.

According to the Agreement on Confidence-Building in the Military Field Along the Border Areas signed in 1996 and the Agreement on the Mutual Reduction of Military Forces in the Border Areas signed in 1997 by China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan (collectively referred to as the "two agreements"), the military inspection teams of China and the Joint Party conduct four rounds of eight compliance inspections annually on each other's military forces, technical equipment, and other assets within a 100-kilometer zone along the border.

During the inspection, the Chinese side and the military inspection team of the Joint Party also held symposiums, conducted mutual visits to troops and border cities, and engaged in cultural and sports exchanges. These activities successfully achieved the goals of enhancing trust, dispelling misunderstandings, deepening cooperation, strengthening relations, and fostering friendship, thereby creating a favorable atmosphere for jointly safeguarding peace and security in the border areas.
