The CMA CGM Foundation mobilizes to deliver humanitarian aid, in partnership with the Crisis and Support Centre of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs

The CMA CGM Foundation is deploying its full logistics expertise to support Lebanon and is providing, free of charge, a CMA CGM Group aircraft to operate the first French humanitarian flight to Beirut.

This solidarity operation is part of the humanitarian initiative led by France.

"For the past 72 hours, the CMA CGM Foundation has been working alongside its partners and the crisis unit of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs to make this humanitarian flight possible. In record time, 60 tons of aid have been collected and delivered to Beirut this afternoon to support the Lebanese people. By placing this aircraft at the disposal of France, the Group's full logistics expertise and the commitment of its Foundation are being mobilized. It is a strong gesture that reflects our deep attachment to Lebanon." said Tanya Saadé Zeenny, President of the CMA CGM Foundation.

60 ton of humanitarian supplies and pharmaceutical products delivered

The CMA CGM Foundation transports 60 tons of humanitarian supplies and pharmaceutical products. The aircraft, an Airbus A330 operated by CMA CGM AIR CARGO, departed from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport on Thursday, March 12 and landed in Beirut in the afternoon.

This humanitarian aid includes in particular:

  • a mobile medical unit,
  • medicines and medical equipment,
  • essential kits (cooking and hygiene),
  • infant nutrition products,
  • food supplies,
  • shelter equipment,
  • emergency and civil protection equipment.

These emergency supplies will help strengthen the capacity of healthcare workers and humanitarian organizations on the ground. They will notably be distributed to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, Hôtel-Dieu de France Hospital, the Lebanese Civil Defense and Firefighters, as well as NGOs Première Urgence Internationale, Solidarités International, Order of Malta, the Lebanese Red Cross, Action Against Hunger, IOCC (International Orthodox Christian Charities) and Médecins du Monde.

For this operation, the CMA CGM Foundation mobilized the logistics expertise and teams of the CMA CGM Group to ensure the rapid and efficient delivery of humanitarian aid. Following this first shipment, the Foundation will remain mobilized for as long as necessary.
