Entergy New Orleans is committed to strengthening the city we call home. We are making strategic investments to replace and restore critical transmission lines across the city. These improvements are particularly significant as we enter the peak of hurricane season, when the strength and reliability of the electrical system are essential.
"Our work is going beyond routine maintenance," said Daniel Calamari, director of reliability at Entergy New Orleans. "These upgrades provide the stability and reliability that our customers can count on, especially during hurricane season. Strengthening the grid today helps safeguard the future of our city."
Our teams recently completed critical upgrades in New Orleans East. The project required collaboration among multiple teams, including distribution, transmission, substation and engineering. The work involved replacing aging wooden poles with new steel structures designed to withstand high speed winds, and installing a new switch to safely control the flow of electricity. Through strategic coordination, the teams completed the upgrades efficiently and safely, enhancing the reliability of the electrical grid.
The benefits of these upgrades will be felt citywide. The city's transmission infrastructure not only plays a key role in ensuring reliable electric service but also supports New Orleans' economic vitality. A resilient and dependable grid helps retain residents, supports existing businesses, and encourages new businesses to invest in our community. These improvements create a stronger foundation for long-term growth and opportunity.
Entergy New Orleans will continue to invest in projects that strengthen and uplift our community. By improving the resiliency of the electrical system, we are helping improve the quality of life for current residents while also laying the groundwork for future generations.
