"Senator Cory Booker, is about to introduce a bill to make the first $75,000 in income for couples tax-free by massively expanding the standard deduction on federal returns. For single filers, it would be half that amount, which is more than double of what it is today. In an interview, Booker told me it would have a significant impact in raising disposable incomes for average Americans."

It would also include an additional $2,400 "baby bonus," the year a child is born to help families offset costs. Single filers and heads of households would also get proportional tax relief."

"The one I like the most is Booker's. He's saying, it's the first 75,000 it's tax free now. [...] It's the .1% that are getting away quite frankly with murder. They can use all sorts of tricks to lower their tax rates into the high teens. [...] It is a good idea. It is time that we level up the middle class."
