Gilbert, Ariz. - Paramedic Michaela and EMT Matthew were recently honored with the Life Saving Award by the Sons of the American Revolution. The award recognizes their quick response and care while transporting a patient experiencing a heart attack. The receiving hospital staff stated that without Michaela and Matthew's involvement, the patient would not have survived.
Matthew has served with Gilbert Fire and Rescue for nearly three years and has been an EMT for seven. Reflecting on the award, he said, "I am honored to receive this award, and it means a lot to be recognized for the work we do, but at the end of the day, Michaela and I were just doing what we and all the other members of this great department signed up to do, which is to help others. Moving forward with my career at Gilbert Fire and Rescue, this award is a reminder to always deliver the best service I can to anyone in need and to be the person someone would want to trust with their family member."
Michaela has been a paramedic for six years, four of which she has spent serving the Town of Gilbert. She expressed deep gratitude for the recognition saying, "The Life Saving Award to me means that I was able to successfully impact someone's life in a positive way."
This recognition celebrates Michaela and Matt's outstanding efforts and shows Gilbert Fire and Rescue's ongoing commitment to offering the best care to everyone in the community.
