Temporary Pedestrian Access Closure Along Broom Street

Starting Tuesday, May 12, work will begin on the Broom Street railroad crossing as part of the John Nolen Drive reconstruction project. This work will require a full closure of pedestrian access along Broom Street at the John Nolen Drive intersection. The work and closure are expected to last approximately 10 days.

During this time, a signed pedestrian detour will be provided via West Wilson Street, South Bassett Street, and the newly constructed path on the north side of North Shore Drive. Local pedestrian access across John Nolen Drive to the dog park will remain open.

This is a planned short-term closure associated with the ongoing reconstruction project. Reopening of the pedestrian route is anticipated on Friday, May 22.

Broom Street will continue to remain closed to vehicular traffic at John Nolen Drive until Friday, May 29. Beginning Monday, June 1, North Shore Drive will close for the next phase of construction. An additional news release will be issued prior to that closure.
