CTDOT Plans to Replace Existing Traffic Control Signal Equipment in various towns in Connecticut

10/08/2026

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is developing plans under State Project No. 0174-0492 to replace existing traffic control signal equipment in Ansonia, Barkhamsted, Beacon Falls, Canton, Danbury, Sharon, Simsbury, Southbury, Suffield, and Torrington.

The project involves full replacements of the traffic signal equipment at twelve intersections. At applicable locations, pedestrian control features (countdown pedestrian indications, accessible pushbuttons, sidewalk ramps) will be upgraded in an effort to improve accessibility and pedestrian safety.

CTDOT will coordinate with the City/Town during the design phase. The following intersections are included:

Traffic Control Signal - Full Replacement:

  • Ansonia: Route 334 (Great Hill Road and Wakelee Avenue) at Lower Derby Avenue
  • Barkhamsted: (Flashing Beacon) Us Route 44 (New Hartford Road) At Route 318 (Ripley Hill Road)
  • Beacon Falls: Route 8 NB Off Ramp at Route 42
  • Canton: U.S. Route 44 (Albany Turnpike) at U.S. Route 202
  • Danbury: Route 37 (Padanaram Road) at Golden Hill Road and CVS Driveway
  • Danbury: S.R. 840 (White Turkey Road Extension) at Riverview Drive

This project will be undertaken with 20% federal and 80% state funds.
