UMGC Faculty Member Selected for Systemwide Accessibility Initiative

Dr. Ahalya Hejmadi, Collegiate Professor of Social & Behavioral Sciences & Gerontology at UMGC, has been selected as one of 17 distinguished faculty members across the University System of Maryland (USM) to participate in the Boosting Course Accessibility mini grant program, led by the William E. Kirwan Center for Academic Innovation.

This marks a significant milestone for UMGC learners, as Dr. Hejmadi's participation will directly support the university's commitment to integrated, accessible, and learner-focused education. Through this initiative, she will redesign course materials using universal design principles, ensuring that students of all abilities can engage fully with their learning experience.

We congratulate Dr. Hejmadi on this honor and look forward to the impact her work will have on the future of learning at UMGC and beyond.
