Police, Fire Respond to Accidental Shooting, Provide Medical Aid

On April 13, just after midnight, patrol officers responded to a report of an accidental gunshot (GSW) wound in the 130 block of 10th Avenue East.

Police found the GSW victim with a single 'through-and-through' injury to his forearm. They provided medical aid and applied a tourniquet until the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived.

SFD transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.

Police determined that the man was attempting to unload his handgun when it went off and struck him in the arm. The bullet went through his arm and into a wall. There were no other injuries reported.

Two nearby witnesses inside the residence called 911 and applied pressure to the wound until police arrived.

SPD detectives will handle follow-up investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
