Business Insider wins 2026 Excellence in Financial Journalism Award

Business Insider has won a NYCPA Excellence in Financial Journalism Award in the General Reporting category for the "80 Over 80" series. Each year, the awards pay tribute to journalists who have contributed to financial and business topics through their work.

The months-long "80 Over 80" series, written by Senior Economy Reporter Noah Sheidlower, focused on what working at 80 and older looks like. The 300-interview series includes over a dozen features and chronicles the lives of people through original photographs, a short documentary, and an interactive capstone. It shared the experience of folks like an 81-year-old Home Depot worker battling heart failure, a 93-year-old woman searching for a job, and an 85-year-old bus driver who died at work.

"Noah has been at the forefront of covering the challenges facing aging Americans. This series highlights his careful and sensitive reporting, capturing the stories of some of the most vulnerable workers in the economy," said Senior Economy Editor Andy Kiersz.

The "80 Over 80" series also won a New York Press Club Award, was a finalist for beat reporting in the Deadline Club Awards, and won second place at the Headliner Awards.
