2026 Southeast Wyoming RAP

Public Notice:

PUBLIC NOTICE

The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WDEQ)/Storage Tank Program (STP) is proposing remedial actions for petroleum-impacted sites in or near the City of Cheyenne in Laramie County, Wyoming. Previous WDEQ/STP investigations revealed four petroleum-impacted sites in the project area. The WDEQ/STP is authorized to remediate these sites by the Wyoming Environmental Quality Act, Article 14.

A Draft Final Southeast Wyoming Remedial Action Plan, describing the project and proposed actions, is available at the Laramie County Library, 2200 Pioneer Avenue, Cheyenne, WY 82001. A copy is also available at WDEQ, Cheyenne Office. These copies will be available for public review through February 9th.

Proposed remedial methods include in-situ biodegradation by injecting an activated carbon slurry-based remediation product, installing an oxygen-releasing compound (ORC-A) sock and monitored natural attenuation. Remediation systems will be installed near source areas and areas of contaminant migration. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026. System operation will continue until remediation is complete, which is estimated to be 1 to 10 years.

Funding for this project is from the Wyoming Corrective Action Account and federal funds. Questions and comments concerning this project should be directed to the WDEQ/STP Project Manager: Jason Fernandez, 200 W 17th St, Cheyenne, WY 82001, 307-777-7073.
