USF all girl cheer claims first Premier World Cup and USA Grand Championship

USF has claimed nine world or national championships in the last five years

TAMPA, JAN. 20, 2025 - The University of South Florida cheer teams continued to establish the Bulls as the nation's most outstanding cheerleading program as the All Girl and Coed teams combined to bring home three championships, including a first-ever World Cup, from the 2025 UCA/UDA College Cheerleading & Dance Team National Championship at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla. over the weekend, pushing the program's total to nine championships over the last five seasons.

Elevating their achievements to an even higher level, the three-time national champion USF All Girl Cheer Team, led by head coach , claimed the program's first-ever Premier All Girl University World Cup championship in their first year in the competition with teams from around the world. The team also earned the USA Grand Championship for the first time, being crowned the highest-scoring USA cheer team across all divisions and competitions in the event.

"We were incredibly excited to compete for the very first time in the ICU University World Cup Cheerleading Championships and I am very proud of the hard work our team put in to prepare and how they performed," Clarke said. "It was a fun experience for our girls to meet and compete with teams from other countries. We were honored to be the named the University World Cup Champion and the overall USA highest score Grand Champion. This year's squad joined the extremely competitive and talented cheer teams at USF that have established the Bulls as the top cheer program in the nation."

The All Girl Cheer Team also finished second in the Division 1A Game Day competition a year after bringing home a pair of national titles. The team has finished in the top two nationally in the All Girl Game Day competition in three straight years, after capturing back-to-back titles in 2023 and 2024 and the team's first in the Division IA Traditional competition last year. In 2024, USF became the first-ever Division I program to win national titles in both All Girl Game Day and All Girl Traditional competitions in the same year.

Assisting Clarke in coaching the All Girl team are , Leighton Clarke, Jessica Shefman and Kayla Rivera. The USF Coed Cheer Team, led by coaches and , brought home its first national championship in the Division 1A Game Day competition on Friday. The team also placed second in the Division 1A Large Coed competition, just .2 points behind the first place team. The win marked the seventh UCA national championship earned by the USF cheer programs.

The USF Coed Cheer Team, led Patrick, Guadagnino and assistant coaches Noah Webb, Adarius Payne, and Annalise Shaffer, has established itself as a standard bearer in collegiate cheer, claiming four national championships in the last five seasons and finishing second in the Division IA Large Coed Game Day category and fourth in the Division 1A Large Coed category in 2024. In 2023, USF joined Kentucky as the only programs to win three straight Coed national championships, doing so just three seasons after claiming the program's first-ever national championship in 2021.

"This team was special," Patrick said. "We asked them to lead with their hearts and control the controllables. They took the mat with love and joy. We are extremely proud of how hard they prepared and to HIT in finals both times with routines that they will remember for life. Each day, we asked them to be where their feet are, to enjoy the mustard seed moments and to do it for the person standing next to them…and they did just that."

USF Coed Cheer renewed national competition in 2016 following a 13-year hiatus and progressively climbed up the leaderboard to become a dominant program, finishing 12th (2017), 8th (2018), 4th (2019), 5th (2020) and finally No. 1 in 2021, 2022, 2023 and now again in 2025.
