Augusta, GA Government Offices to Open at 12:00pm

Augusta, Georgia to Open on Modified Schedule

AUGUSTA, GA (January 22, 2025) - Augusta, Georgia Government continues to monitor current winter weather conditions. Out of an abundance of caution and the potential for black ice on roads, Augusta, Georgia Government offices will open Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 12:00pm. The safety of our employees and residents remains our top priority, and this measure has been implemented to ensure the well-being of all. The Augusta Commission will hold their scheduled Commission Meeting at 12:30pm in the Lee Beard Commission Chamber.

We continue to encourage residents who do not have to travel to stay off roads or limit travel due to the potentially hazardous road conditions. If travel is necessary, please drive with extreme caution and avoid shaded roadways.

Augusta Animal Services: Will open from 2:00pm to 5:00pm for owner reclaims and stray intakes. No adoptions will take place Thursday, January 23, 2025.

Augusta Transit: Augusta Transit bus services will operate from 12:00pm to 8:30pm as long as roads are safe and passable.

Augusta Landfill: The Augusta Landfill will open from 12:00pm to 6:00pm.

Trash collection: Service collection will be delayed Thursday, January 23, 2025. Additional information for service resumption will be provided when it becomes available.

To report hazardous conditions such as icy roads, fallen branches, or other weather-related concerns, please contact Augusta 311 (706-821-2300 or use the MyAugusta 311 app). City crews are actively treating roads and working to respond to any reported issues to ensure public safety.

Residents are reminded to:

  • Stay indoors when possible
  • Use extra caution on sidewalks and driveways
  • Check on neighbors, especially the elderly and those with mobility challenges
