Congresswoman Gwen Moore Welcomes U.S. Supreme Court Decision on President Trump's Tariffs

"I welcome this decision, which reaffirms Congress's constitutional authority to impose tariffs. Since the start of this Administration, Trump has failed to acknowledge that Congress is a coequal branch of government. While there are other statutes which the President may use to try and pursue this misguided tariff policy, this ruling is clear that he misused the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) to claim a 'national emergency' and impose reckless, illegal tariffs that Congress did not authorize.

As a result, the President's chaotic trade policy has created economic pain for small businesses, higher prices for working families, and harmed relations with key allies. As many Republicans stood idly by, Ways and Means Democrats have pushed back against these tariffs to reassert their congressional authority."
