The " Charge Up Dane County " program is seeking partners to host electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities that will help fill the gaps in local EV charging infrastructure. The Dane County Office of Energy & Climate Change (OECC) aims to install affordable charging in 60 to 70 locations across Dane County. Today, most EV owners charge at home in their garages - and that's a great way to save money. However, if you are a renter, you deserve access to affordable charging too - hence this effort.
The county is seeking to fill three gaps in EV charging infrastructure:
High-density urban and suburban areas where residents lack access to private charging networks, OR
Rural areas where the private charging market is less likely to install charging stations, OR
Multi-modal transportation hubs where EV charging can support public and active transit options
Potential site hosts include local businesses, faith communities, municipalities, private landowners, and community-based organizations.
