On March 3rd, the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar hosted the Lantern Festival Celebration and Exchange Event for Women Diplomats in Myanmar. Women diplomats, including Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ma Jia, heads of foreign missions, and representatives of international organizations in Myanmar, attended the event.
Ambassador Ma Jia noted that the Lantern Festival, as the first significant event after the Spring Festival, symbolizes reunion, happiness, and prosperity, reflecting China's profound historical heritage and diverse folk culture. Traditional customs, such as admiring lanterns and tasting sweet glutinous rice balls, embody people's aspirations for a better life. This year's Lantern Festival falls right before International Women's Day, and women are playing an increasingly important role on the global stage. She expressed her hope that women diplomats from various countries would experience the charm of Chinese culture through these exchanges and mutual learning, together showcasing the strength of women.
The event featured traditional Chinese opera and calligraphy, along with interactive experience areas for the tea ceremony, floating lacquer technique, and rubbing. Guests enjoyed a Guzheng performance and a cheongsam show that showcased the charm of Chinese culture, presented by women diplomats and their families, all within a warm and friendly atmosphere.
