Ed Yost Named KU Employee of the Month for June 2026

KUTZTOWN, Pa. - Congratulations to Ed Yost, drafter designer, Facilities, on being named Kutztown University Employee of the Month for June 2026.

Yost's nomination came from several individuals, which can be read below.

Will Meeker, Facilities
"Ed has been an employee at KU now for several years. His primary role is to keep our CAD drawings of campus buildings and outdoor areas as accurate as possible. Because of this, he is very knowledgeable about most areas on campus.

The reason why Ed deserves this recognition is because of the direct support he provides the campus community. Although most don't recognize Ed, they benefit from his diligence and work ethic. Ed is often seen hiking across the campus with a tape measure, a set of drawings and a sharpie or can of spray paint, depending on what he is working on. The past several months have been a great example of the great customer service he provides. Ed was responsible for coordinating the office moves for Athletics while Keystone is under renovation, and he is currently overseeing the move for various groups to Old Main this summer. Both were large moves that had a lot of moving parts, frequent changes and updates, and some interesting requests. Ed's knowledge and patience were on display as he worked with our customers to help make these transitions as seamless as possible. Very few will understand the challenges, depth of communication and coordination with multiple departments that need to occur to make these moves happen.

Ed also supports most of the outdoor events that take place on campus. He oversees our PA One Call responsibilities and marks our KU utilities. This is required anytime tents are set up to ensure there is no conflict with underground utilities. Over the past couple years, Ed has been working on a program to install underground locators in areas where tents are frequently set up, such as the DMZ. This program has saved a significant amount of money because it minimizes the amount of time we need a third-party vendor on site to perform location services.

Ed works behind the scenes, but our campus activities go on as intended, departmental and office moves occur in a seamless manner, and our ability to have access to accurate campus drawings has been expedited because of what he does."

"During the summer break of 2026, Ed Yost is coordinating office moves for multiple departments and locations. The moves are broken into phases, occurring from mid-June to the end of July. Phased moves/relocations are scheduled to occur with a gap between phases for office cleaning and maintenance. Prior to the move dates, Ed thoroughly reviewed all office spaces and helped everyone prepare to move. Special requests received from those relocating were taken into consideration and accommodated when possible. For requests that couldn't be accommodated, options were given. Every attempt was made to ensure each move was done seamlessly within the time frame specified. Ed is actively involved in each moving phase and provides an open line of communication with all parties involved.

Ed has a hands-on approach for each move and actively participates in the process. His preparation, communication, and thoughtful suggestions make decision making easy, even when there are unexpected delays to pack up offices. Ed remains flexible and works alongside Tammy Moyer to ensure all changes are noted, addressed and resolved, if needed.

Ed works alongside the contracted moving crews he supervises, and ensures packed items are placed in the correct offices. Remaining cost conscious of contracted services, whenever possible, Ed "works ahead" fully utilizing the hired manpower hours instead of delaying accomplishments.

Ed Yost is one of the most well-organized individuals I've ever had the pleasure of working with. His attention to detail, positive energy and thorough planning has resulted in a successful outcome of faculty relocation."

"Ed Yost is the type of employee that exhibits every value that Kutztown stands for. From my experience with Ed, I found that he is always looking to go beyond just doing the job and seeks to do the very best in everything he does for Kutztown University. In particular, his efforts fit well into the mission and goals of the university.

I have gotten to know Ed over the past six months as he has been the main facilitator for our move from Lytle, Graduate Center, and Old Main fourth floor to the Old Main B wing second floor. This was an extremely complicated endeavor with four departments newly merged into one trying to coordinate the move from four locations on campus. Throughout the process, Ed was in constant contact with us and drew new plans of every office once the furniture requirements were determined. Ed went through multiple iterations of each set of drawings to make sure that everyone was satisfied with both the move process and the final outcome of the office set-up. As important as the engagement was, Ed was also cognizant of the need to be flexible in some aspects of the faculty move. In a departure from the initial instructions, he was able to work in the move of some personal items for the faculty. He saw early on that this was going to be very different than other recent moves on campus. Following the finalized office plans, Ed walked the department move coordinators through the process and went through department items that were going to be part of the move a few times rather than just once. He was aware that things get missed in the first go-around and took the time to make sure the complicated move was going to be done as right as one could get it. Ed certainly exhibits the characteristics of a great employee who cares deeply about getting the job done right."

"Ed did an amazing job supporting the Athletic Department in the move out of Keystone Hall in preparation for the upcoming renovation. His flexibility and organization made the move smooth and he was able to adjust to the ever-changing high demand of our collegiate athletic schedule. Ed was very patient and always willing to work with our staff to meet their needs and provide resources for them to be successful."

"Our department recently worked closely with Ed as he coordinated our temporary move to prepare for the renovation of Keystone Hall. Ed was always available to answer questions, take meetings and do everything, from preparing detailed move binders to hustling down spare furniture so our temporary offices felt like home. Moving is never easy. Moving an entire department is even harder. But Ed was always ready with his tool kit and a smile."

"In the recent past, Ed worked with both Academic Affairs and Athletics to coordinate large-scale office moves on campus.

The Athletic moves involved relocating all staff from Keystone Hall to Old Main B-Wing temporarily to prepare for the start of the Keystone Hall life-cycle renovation (later, he will get the opportunity to move them all back!). Phasing of the Athletics moves involved working around sports' schedules based in the arena and commencement-related use of space.

To meet the goal of Academic Affairs to create the new Society, History and Culture Department, people within Old Main were realigned and were joined by others from Lytle. Significant planning was involved. Knowing that moves are difficult for everyone impacted by the process, he worked diligently to minimize the impact on faculty and staff. His attention to detail and thoughtful phasing of the moves was and is exceptional.

While wrapped up with the moves, he still provided support as requested to all Facilities operations. Ed's dedication to serving the KU community is heartfelt and sincere."

"As a new department chair, I have been navigating many new responsibilities at once, and the upcoming space changes in Old Main have added another complex layer to that transition. Throughout this process, Ed has taken an enormous amount off my plate, and I have been deeply grateful for his steady guidance, responsiveness and expertise.

From the beginning, Ed has been thoughtful, patient, and incredibly helpful in managing the many details involved in planning office moves and designing layouts to meet changing and sometimes complicated needs. What could have felt overwhelming has become much more manageable because of his ability to anticipate issues, offer practical solutions, and move projects forward with calm professionalism. His work has not only eased my own transition into leadership but has also helped to ensure that our department's space changes are handled in a way that supports faculty, staff and students.

What stands out most to me is that Ed understands that this work is about more than furniture placement or floor plans. He recognizes that well-designed and carefully planned spaces affect how people work, collaborate and serve students. In that way, his contributions directly support Kutztown University's mission to provide high-quality learning opportunities and its vision of fostering success within a caring community. Ed's behind-the-scenes work makes a very real difference, especially during times of transition and change. He brings a rare combination of technical skill, adaptability and genuine helpfulness, and his support has made a significant impact on me personally as I take on this new role."

"Ed Yost is an outstanding candidate for Employee of the Month in recognition of his exceptional dedication and tireless support during the summer moves of faculty and staff in Old Main and other areas across campus. He has assisted with more than 45 moves within Academic Affairs alone, helping to ensure that offices and personnel were relocated efficiently and with minimal disruption. This impressive number does not include the many additional moves and requests he has supported for other divisions across the university. Ed consistently demonstrates professionalism, dependability and a strong commitment to service, going above and beyond to meet the needs of the campus community. Through his responsiveness, collaboration and willingness to assist colleagues across departments during times of transition, Ed helps advance Kutztown University's mission and vision by supporting a caring campus community and ensuring the university continues to function effectively in service of students, faculty and staff. Nominations are collected from students, faculty and staff, and the Employee of the Month is selected by the Human Resources Advisory Council. A winner will be selected each month, and out of the 12 monthly winners one will be selected as Employee of the Year. The Employee of the Month will receive a plaque, reserved parking and a monetary gift.
