Continuing MLK Legacy through the Centene Value of Service

01/17/2025

On January 20, Centene will join the country in recognizing the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the King holiday as a National Day of Service, encouraging all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.

Dr. King dedicated his life to helping historically underserved and oppressed communities through his advocacy for justice, equality, and human rights.

At Centene, service is one of our core values, as we emphasize the importance of going above and beyond for our members, our communities, and each other. We demonstrate this value through various initiatives such as our employee volunteer program, year-round employee giving, and community outreach programs.

By actively seeking opportunities to serve, our team members support Centene's mission of transforming the health of the communities we serve, one person at a time.

One of the ways Centene demonstrates this value is by encouraging employees to share their time, resources, and skills to build stronger communities, supporting community partners when and how they need it most.

Employees have several paths for taking action to support their local communities, such as:

  • Providing service at strategic community partners as ambassadors of Centene.
  • Giving back individually, by choosing impacts that are personally important to them.
  • Using paid time off to perform personal service at a nonprofit.

Through these collective efforts, Centene is building a world where service continues to be valued and celebrated. By living the value of service, Centene honors Dr. King, his vision, and contributes to a legacy of positive change that will continue his mission as well as our own.
