Rep. Ritter Applauds Controlling Board Approval of Funds for Upgrades at Ohio University

State Representative Kevin Ritter (R-Marietta) announced that the Ohio Controlling Board recently approved the release of funding for various updates at Ohio University including security upgrades and renovation work at the arts education building on campus.

The Controlling Board last week approved the release of capital funds in the amount of $195,060.59 from the Campus Safety Grant Program and approved a contract totaling $113,461.61 for the OUPD Security Camera Upgrade initiative.

The Campus Safety Grant Program supports security projects that enhance the safety of students and staff at colleges and universities around Ohio. According to the university, grant funds will be used to enhance campus safety through the current video surveillance system by adding much-needed storage capacity and increasing video camera coverage in areas that are currently lacking.

The Controlling Board also approved capital appropriations in the amount of $3,461,316 from the Academic Space Renewal Fund and approved a contract in the amount of $3,461,316 for concrete work at the future Violet L. Patton Center for Arts Education building.

"I'm glad to see funding approved for making important updates around the Ohio University campus, which will help to ensure it's an even safer, more welcoming place for students, educators and staff," said Rep. Ritter
