Following a thorough assessment, the International Gas Union (IGU) has decided to move the World Gas Conference (WGC2028) from Milan, Italy, to London, United Kingdom - a city with rich historical significance for the triennial conference, having hosted the first World Gas Conference in 1931.
This return marks a significant moment as the global Gas industry looks ahead to its future.
Under the theme "Driving Human Progress and Global Growth", the 2028 World Gas Conference is set to be a significant event that unites global energy leaders, showcases innovation, and highlights the Gas industry's crucial role in shaping the future energy landscape.
As the largest and oldest Gas membership organisation in the world, the IGU is excited by the opportunities London presents and looks forward to welcoming the most preeminent Gas industry leaders and companies to what promises to be an unforgettable Conference.
The 2028 World Gas Conference and Exhibition will be hosted at Excel, one of the world's leading event destinations located on a 100-acre site on the northern quay of the Royal Victoria Dock, from 15th to 18th May 2028.
"We will celebrate the 30th edition of the longest-standing world Gas conference right where it all began in 1931. For 95 years, this triennial conference has stood the test of time and remains the most significant global Gas event," said Mr Andrea Stegher, the President of the IGU.
Mr Marcus Gurske, the Executive Director of WGC2028 said:
"Having the 30th edition of the World Gas Conference in London represents a powerful endorsement of the city's position as a global energy hub. Hosting WGC2028 will bring together thousands of energy leaders, industry experts, and decision-makers from across the globe, reinforcing United Kingdom's role at the forefront of critical conversations shaping the future of Gas and the world's energy additions. The capital's dynamic ecosystem-home to major energy companies, innovative start-ups, financial institutions, and policy influencers - will enrich the WGC2028 experience and facilitate meaningful connections."
