Congresswoman Luz Rivas Votes Against Trump’s War in Iran

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29) released the following statement after voting on H.Con.Res. 38, a War Powers Resolution to oppose Trump's unconstitutional war in Iran.

"The Constitution is clear: Donald Trump cannot enter into a war without approval from Congress. Clearly, the American public and Congress do not influence Trump's decisions, and he would rather be influenced by his impulsion and emotion. Additionally, I attended the classified briefing on Iran and this Administration failed to provide any sound reason or justification for starting another costly war that will put our servicemembers in harm's way.

"There are real problems in our nation and Trump's war in Iran is a distraction from his failure to address issues Americans' concerns, including the lowering the cost of groceries, releasing the Epstein files, and reining in an out-of-control ICE.

"The American people do not want another forever war."
