LOS ANGELES, CA - Mandala Space Ventures is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Opal AI, a physical AI company transforming how communities predict, prepare for, and respond to natural disasters.
Born out of NASA and JPL, Opal AI is a deep-tech physical AI company with more than $4M in non-dilutive government contracts awarded by NASA and the USDOT. Its flagship product, FireVision, is an end-to-end wildfire intelligence platform spanning prediction, structure-level risk assessment, and decision support for utilities and fire agencies.
At the core of FireVision is Opal AI's proprietary Fire Potential Index (FPI), which delivers hourly, high-resolution wildfire risk forecasts up to 48 hours in advance. Complementing the FPI is Opal AI's one-of-a-kind Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) Simulator - a fire model that ingests real-time inputs to calculate fire spread potential and structural vulnerability.
FireVision is already in active pilots with Lake Tahoe, a major California municipal utility, and a Southern California county fire agency, and is being purpose-built to address the urban conflagration gap that was exposed by the January 2025 Los Angeles fires.
Through this partnership, Mandala Space Ventures will support Opal AI's commercialization across government agencies, fire departments, and utility companies. Drawing on its unique ecosystem and deep network within the space and remote sensing communities, Mandala will contribute go-to-market strategies, partnership development, and industry access to help bring FireVision to scale.
Opal AI is currently raising a $2M seed round to accelerate commercial expansion. With proven pilots, a NASA-validated platform, and a growing roster of institutional partners, the company is well-positioned to deploy FireVision nationwide across fire departments, utilities, and government agencies.
