Project to make repairs to damaged bridge

SWISHER COUNTY- A project to make repairs to the FM 928 bridge, spanning over I-27 in Swisher County, is scheduled to begin Monday, March 2. The $928,000 project will rebuild the bridge span over the southbound I-27 main lanes.

The FM 928 bridge was struck by a truck-mounted-crane the morning of March 27, 2025, The crash resulted in significant damage to the span located directly over southbound I-27. Two outside beams were struck and also damaged along with the bridge deck. The bridge has been closed to traffic since.

Drivers can anticipate various I-27 main lane closures and brief periods where southbound I-27 will be closed to all traffic and drivers detoured on the frontage road.

Contractor for the project is LA Fuller & Sons Construction, LTD, from Amarillo. Work is scheduled to be completed in late summer 2026.
