Nationwide Launches Tool to Help Employers Lower Healthcare Costs, Improve Member Experience

The first-of-its-kind tool available through Nationwide's Self-Funded Program delivers intelligent cost containment for employers and transparent, affordable care for employees

Columbus, OH - Nationwide announced today that it is launching a new tool to help employers meet their employees' health care needs, eliminate unexpected medical costs and more effectively manage their health plans.

The ClearAccess tool, a technology-driven, artificial intelligence-powered platform that helps employees navigate medical care and save on hospital visits, will be available with the Self-Funded Program through Nationwide. Powered by ClearHealth Strategies, Goodbill and BillingNav, the tool will allow members to quickly search for symptoms of an illness or condition, offer them a list of providers in their area and supply an expected breakdown of costs for services. Other features include:

  • Online provider search and booking options to schedule office visits, any time
  • Automatic screening for additional discounts
  • Transparent provider summaries that show anticipated costs
  • Expert support to navigate their plan

"This solution provides our customers with cutting-edge member navigation to help them effectively search for care options and eliminate unexpected costs," said Casey Lanto, head of Nationwide Group Benefits Product and Operations. "Navigating a health plan and the healthcare system can be confusing. Packaging the ClearAccess tool with Nationwide's Self-Funded Program means members are getting a clearer, more affordable care experience."

Nationwide's Self-Funded Program is for employers with 2 to 500 employees, offering an integrated solution that makes it easier to self-fund health benefits while providing employees access to the high-quality coverage they need and deserve.

"Employers are told to choose between lower costs and a good member experience. We don't think that's true," said Patrick Haig, co-founder and CEO of Goodbill, one of the companies powering ClearAccess. "When you help members find high-quality but affordable care, costs come down for everyone. Partnering with Nationwide lets us bring that to employers through a brand they already trust."

Brokers or employers who are interested in learning more about the Self-Funded Program through Nationwide can call 1-877-877-0245 or visit Nationwide.com.
