Illinois state parks still seeking campground hosts for 2026 season

SPRINGFIELD - Several state parks and historic sites operated by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) are still seeking campground hosts for the 2026 season. Sites actively searching for campground hosts include:

Southern Illinois

  • Wayne Fitzgerrell State Recreation Area at Rend Lake in Franklin County
  • Giant City State Park in Jackson County
  • Cave-in-Rock State Park in Hardin County
  • Stephen A. Forbes State Recreation Area in Marion County
  • World Shooting and Recreational Complex in Randolph County
  • Saline County State Fish and Wildlife Area

West-central Illinois

  • Sangchris Lake State Park in Sangamon and Christian counties
  • Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site in Menard County
  • Horseshoe Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area in Madison County

Northwestern Illinois

  • Mississippi Palisades State Park in Carroll County
  • Illini State Park in LaSalle County
  • Delabar State Park
  • Big River State Forest

Northeastern Illinois

  • Adeline Jay Geo-Karis Illinois Beach State Park in Lake County
  • Chain o' Lakes State Park in Lake County

Campground hosting is a perfect position for anyone who enjoys camping and helping others. Hosts are often the first to greet state park visitors. They check on arrivals and departures, write camping permits, acquaint campers with park facilities and regulations, answer questions about local and statewide attractions, help visitors plan outings and more.
