Question for written answer E-000540/2026
to the Commission
Rule 144
Carmen Crespo Díaz (PPE)

The European Commission has announced the establishment of a working group to step up checks on agri-food imports and ensure effective compliance with European Union health, phytosanitary, environmental and animal-welfare standards. Given the serious concerns among European farmers and producers about unfair competition from imports from third countries, can the Commission say?

  • 1.What specific timetable does it have for this task force on agri-food import controls to become fully operational and start producing tangible results?
  • 2.What is the intended timetable for the adoption of recommendations, joint measures or possible legislative proposals resulting from the work of this group?
  • 3.How will it ensure that this working group strengthens border controls in a meaningful, effective and uniform manner across all Member States, avoiding inequalities in the application of the rules?
