Oregon Democrats Call for Sen. Christine Drazan, Rep. Ed Diehl, and Other Governor Candidates to Stand With Them Against Trump’s Efforts to Send Masked Federal Agents to Oregon

Portland, OR - The Democratic Party of Oregon is calling on Christine Drazan, Ed Diehl, Chris Dudley, and other Republican candidates for Governor to stand with them in opposing further surge of masked federal agents in response to breaking news reportsthat Oregon "was next" in the Trump administration's plans following their failed and deadly operation in Minnesota.

President Trump's directive to federal agents to deploy dangerous and reckless tactics in Oregon has already wreaked havoc on families and communities across the state - most recently with the detainment of a 7-year old girl and her familyoutside a Portland hospital last week as the parents sought emergency medical care for her.

"Oregonians have been living with the consequences of Donald Trump's decision to invade our state for months. We've already seen the fear and chaos created by this administration leaving families and community members too scared to access essential health care services and driving them to avoid workplaces, schools, and public buildings to the detriment of local economies and public health," said DPO Chair Nathan Soltz.

"The tragedies taking place in Minnesota have made it abundantly clear that the forces being deployed by this administration are reckless and making our communities less safe. We're calling on the Republican candidates for governor to stand alongside their Democratic colleagues and demand the Trump Administration not send federal agents to Oregon so that we can keep our focus on building strong and safe communities across the state."
