Art Exhibition Highlights Legacy of Delaware Women Leaders at ChristianaCare


NEWARK, Del. - The Office of Women's Advancement and Advocacy, a division of the Delaware Department of Human Resources, in partnership with ChristianaCare, announces the opening of the Delaware Women's Hall of Fame Portrait Exhibition now on display in ChristianaCare's Center for Heart & Vascular Health.

The exhibition features more than 170 watercolor portraits by Delaware Artist Theresa Walton, honoring the remarkable women who have been inducted into the Delaware Women's Hall of Fame.

"ChristianaCare is proud to partner with the state to host an exhibition that celebrates the pioneering women who have played vital roles in shaping and uplifting Delaware. This exhibition highlights their achievements and embodies the spirit of empowerment reflected in the Delaware Women's Hall of Fame. By showcasing this exhibition, we aim to inspire and reaffirm ChristianaCare's commitment to creating a supportive environment where women are valued and provided with the opportunities and resources they need to succeed, ultimately inspiring future generations of women in our community," said Amy Marston, MBA, MPH, Campus President of the ChristianaCare Newark Campus.

"This exhibition is a celebration of the extraordinary women who have shaped Delaware's history and inspire our communities today," said Sherese Brewington-Carr, Director of the Office of Women's Advancement and Advocacy. "By showcasing their stories and achievements, we intend to motivate all Delawareans - especially young women - to pursue their passions and make a difference in the world around them."

Established in 1981, the Delaware Women's Hall of Fame recognizes women from all walks of life who have made a significant and lasting contributions to the state. Inductees represent fields ranging from arts and athletics to science, public service, and community advocacy. Nominees must have resided in Delaware for a least 10 years and demonstrated an enduring impact on the lives of Delawareans.

Date: September 15, 2025 - July 29, 2026
Location: Visitors to the ChristianaCare Newark Campus can see the collection next to the Center for Heart & Vascular Health lobby area, 4755 Ogletown-Stanton Road, Newark, DE.

The public is invited to attend and explore this free exhibition celebrating Delaware's trailblazing women. The collection is also available online through the Office of Women's and Advancement's website.

Applications for the 2026 Delaware Women's Hall of Fame will open in January 2026 can be found at de.gov/women.
