Penn State Altoona picked up both of this week's State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Swimmer of the Week awards on Monday, when Victoria Oldford, of Bucks County, was named the conference's Women's Swimmer of the Week and Caden Traggiai, of Saxonburg, was tabbed as the Men's Swimmer of the Week.
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Penn State Altoona picked up both of this week's State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Swimmer of the Week awards on Monday, when Victoria Oldford, of Bucks County, was named the conference's Women's Swimmer of the Week and Caden Traggiai, of Saxonburg, was tabbed as the Men's Swimmer of the Week.
Oldford and Traggiai helped lead their teams to dual meet wins over visiting non-conference opponent McDaniel College on Nov. 1.
Oldford picked up a pair of individual wins in Saturday's meet, placing first in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 26.51 and also finishing atop the standings in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:12.75. She was also part of the second-place 200 Yard Medley Relay team that compiled a total time of 2:03.85.
Traggiai also recorded two individual wins Saturday, prevailing in the 200 Yard Freestyle after clocking in at 1:50.74 and taking first in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:03.43. Additionally, he helped his 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team win its event, as the group posted a combined time of 1:32.14.
Penn State Altoona women's swimming defeated McDaniel 128-75 in the meet, while the Lions men's team came away with a 139-57 victory over the Green Terror.
Women's swimming returns to action on Nov. 15, traveling to compete against Division II opponent Lock Haven University in a dual meet starting at 11 a.m. Meanwhile, the men's team's next meet is Nov. 20 in day one of the three-day Malone University Invitational.
