Lamb will appear in the University's 1877 Club to read from The River is Waiting, his seventh novel. He will also sign copies of the book.

Released last year, The River is Waiting follows following a young father grappling with unbearable tragedy as he searches for hope, redemption, and the possibility of forgiveness. The novel became an instant New York Times bestseller and was an Oprah's Book Club selection.

The reading is free and open to the public:

Date: Wednesday, March 11

Time: 1:00 p.m.

Location: 1877 Club, Harry Jack Gray Center, University of Hartford

Wally Lamb is the author of seven New York Times bestselling novels: The River Is Waiting, I'll Take You There, We Are Water, Wishin' and Hopin', The Hour I First Believed, I Know This Much Is True, and She's Come Undone. Lamb also edited Couldn't Keep It to Myself and I'll Fly Away, two volumes of essays from students in his writing workshop at York Correctional Institution, a women's prison in Connecticut, where he was a volunteer facilitator for twenty years.

Cardin Reading Series events are held throughout the year and bring some of the most prominent fiction writers, poets, essayists, and scholars from all over the country to speak at the University of Hartford. Past speakers include Guggenheim Fellows, recipients of the National Book Awards and of the National Book Critics Circle Award.
