Cypermethrin: Summary of Hazard and Science Policy Council (HASPOC) Meeting on November 29, 2018: Recommendation on the Need for an Androgenrelated Study to Inform Human Health[...]

On June 25, 2014, the EDSP Tier 1 Assay Weight of Evidence Review Committee (T1WoERC) of the Office of Pesticide Programs and the Office of Science Coordination and Policy conducted a weight-of-evidence (WoE) analysis of the potential interaction of cypermethrin with the estrogen, androgen, or thyroid hormone pathways. There was no convincing evidence for potential interaction with the estrogen or thyroid pathways. However, there was convincing evidence for potential interaction with the androgen pathway (TXR# 0057164; Akerman and Blankinship; 2015). Based on the available information at that time, the Committee concluded that the point of departure (POD) for human health risk assessment may not be protective of the male reproductive effects observed in two literature studies (Hu et al., 2013 and Li et al. 2013). Based on that information, the Committee recommended additional data on the androgen pathway to address this concern. The Hazard and Science Policy Council (HASPOC) met November 29, 2018 to determine the need for additional data to inform the androgen pathway for risk assessment purposes.
